Sony KDL52W4100 Review
I bought this LCD TV in the late 2008 and I think it’s a really great buy.
A couple reviews said that the television has problems while the dark shades are switching. Ilooked at this in the store with great details and have used it for a one month and I have’t noticed that at all. This is a super sharp TV with superior colors and deep black tones. This TV is a lot improved than the old TV W model.
Here is why you should purchase this tv set. It has a so perfect image in high definition and does a flawless job in SD transmission a lot better than several other tv sets I have used. For that it’s respossible a good technology from Sony called DSP which is basically noise reduction technology. Sony is familiar with Blu-ray because afterall they manufactured it, they know whit skin tones should look like I mean they own a movie studio, the tv menus are very comfortable to use, it has a built in TV guide and it has future expansion capability.
Image quality is pretty near Samsung in high definition. I looked at both televisions side by side. Samsung is slightly better on sharpnes in SD. Samsung has more glare, Sony has a matte cover but blacks on Samsung are solid because it has a glossy screen. When testing with a Blu-ray disc,Sony has a bit more details. No fade from white to dark problems on Sony as some reviews has noticed. Colors are nice and rich as Sony Bravia two engine is outstanding, perhaps even better than XBR engine.I’ve heard the Z series is better but there aren’t 52” models
Tv menus on Samsungs are created for experts with a lots of tweeks, but really it’s confusing for average Joe. If you don’t believe me, get the user instructions for the Samsung LN52A650 and for Sony KDL524100 and see the difference. If you are technical expert, go for the LN52A650. If you don’t want to mess around, but get an excellent image, take the Sony. Ths Sony TV is very easy to use, but also it automatically finds digital channels and is like having a built in cable box.
The Sony television doesn’t have the Ethernet connector and built in news like the series 6 from Samsung, but it does have the built in TV guide and upgrade possibility. But, if you want internet in your TV, you are better to be connected through other device. The TV guide feature in this tv is outstanding and the Sony Bravia Sync is nice especially when you are using a Sony DVD converter for 1080p. Picture in Picture technology is great as well because it’s allowing you to view image from HDMI and at the same time watch cable TV.
For me favorite characteristic on Sony KDL52W4100 is the power button on the top side as this is keeping children from turning off LCD TV. Also a outstanding thing is the remote on the Sony as it is really easy to operate.
Overall, if you want the a super clean image, easy to use LCD TV with options that makes standard television viewing fulfilling and easy. This Sony KDL52W4100 is excellent selection.
